| The diffusion bonding of
tungsten carbide and steel offers new applications in the hot rolling
field. The wear resistant tungsten carbide is only a part of a complete
tool and is located in the SARACOM compound where it is most needed.

Manufacturing
The firm diffusion bonding between cemented carbide and steel parts is achieved
by hot isostatic compacting at a temperature of 1100-1200°C. Then the
compound rings are turned, finish machined and checked.
Applications
The conditions for the applications, the cooling and the machining of SARACOM-rings
are the same as those known for the monobloc TC-rings.
